Have you ever noticed how a simple melody can soothe a crying baby or how a catchy tune can make a toddler dance with joy? Young children are fascinated by sounds, especially those from a beautiful voice. Music is more than just entertainment; it’s a powerful tool for development. This is a topic we’re passionate about on the “Raising Innovators” podcast, and we have a very special guest to share with you today who embodies this very idea.

We’re thrilled to introduce you to the incredible Mariangel Cestari. She is not only a professional opera singer and musician but also an expert in early childhood education. Her journey is a testament to the power of following a dream and the profound impact of music on young lives.

A Fateful Meeting

I first met Mariangel over 15 years ago. She was looking for her first teaching job, and I had the privilege of hiring her on the spot. Her dedication was immediately apparent, but what truly stood out was her passion. I still remember stepping into the infant room just to hear her beautiful voice as she sang to the babies. It was a treat for everyone, and I can only imagine the wonderful effect her music had on those little ones during such a critical stage of their development.

From a Childhood Dream to the Opera Stage

Mariangel’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. She always knew she was a musician, captivated from a young age by the classic voices of singers like Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland. However, growing up in Venezuela, she faced challenges, including a lack of opportunities for formal voice training and parents who were hesitant about her pursuing a career in music.

Driven by her dream, she moved to the United States. It wasn’t an easy path. She had to learn a new language and build a life from the ground up. Her career began in early childhood education, where she was able to share her gift of music with the youngest of learners. But she never gave up on her ultimate goal.

With unwavering perseverance and discipline, she pursued her musical education, honed her incredible talent, and after countless auditions, she achieved her dream. Today, Mariangel is a resident artist at the Central Florida Lyric Opera, gracing stages and inspiring audiences with her powerful voice.

Her story beautifully illustrates why music in early childhood matters so much. It’s not just about creating future musicians; it’s about nurturing passion, fostering discipline, and enriching the emotional and cognitive development of our children from the very beginning. Stay tuned as we delve deeper into how you can bring the magic of music into your child’s life.
